Accountant - accounts payable (Fresno, CA)

Northwind Stone Arts Center is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for volunteer programmes, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Everyone pitches in on show days. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to volunteer programmes, and clear open items. • Track costs around visitor services against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Fresno, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
