Accountant - accounts payable (Fresno, CA)

Nova Corner Markets is a Fresno retailer with stores, a distribution centre and online ordering, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. We are friendly and busy, especially on weekends. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to store inventory, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around online orders against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with store inventory. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Fresno, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
