Accountant - accounts payable (Fresno, CA)

Fernwood Basin Foods Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for cold storage, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 45 people based in Fresno. What you will do • Track costs around production batches against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to cold storage, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
