Accountant - accounts payable (Fresno, CA)

Fernwood Mill Arts Center is an arts centre in Fresno with a full calendar of events. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to school partnerships, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with school partnerships. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Fresno. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
