Accountant - accounts payable (El Paso, TX)

Ironwood Meridian Legal Group is a El Paso practice with attorneys, paralegals and client-service staff, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. People here care about clients, not just cases. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around trust accounts against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with document review. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in El Paso. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
