Accountant - accounts payable (El Paso, TX)

We are growing our team at Northwind Thistle Insurance and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. We invest in training for new adjusters. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to claims, and clear open items. • Track costs around policy renewals against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with claims. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in El Paso, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
