Accountant - accounts payable (El Paso, TX)

Ironwood Birch Energy Group is an energy provider in El Paso focused on reliable service and fair billing, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of about 950 people based in El Paso. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to outage response, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around billing disputes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with outage response. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in El Paso, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
