Accountant - accounts payable (Detroit, MI)

Northwind Loom Pharma is a pharmaceutical company in Detroit producing generic and specialty treatments, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. People move between science and operations roles. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to clinical studies, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with clinical studies. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Detroit, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
