Accountant - accounts payable (Detroit, MI)

Stonegate Ivory Foods makes sauces, snacks and prepared meals in Detroit. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 15 people based in Detroit. What you will do • Track costs around customer specifications against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with allergen controls. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Detroit. • We reply to every applicant.
