Accountant - accounts payable (Detroit, MI)

Northwind Studio is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for recycling loads, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We take pride in clean streets. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to recycling loads, and clear open items. • Track costs around landfill records against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with recycling loads. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Detroit, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
