Accountant - accounts payable (Detroit, MI)

Greenridge Keystone Environmental Services Group collects and processes waste and recycling around Detroit. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of about 451 people based in Detroit. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to weigh tickets, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Detroit, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
