Accountant - accounts payable (Detroit, MI)

Harborlight Drift Health provides primary and specialty care in Detroit, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 13 people based in Detroit. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to insurance authorisations, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around patient scheduling against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with insurance authorisations. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Detroit, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
