Accountant - accounts payable (Denver, CO)

Highbridge Fern Transit Planning plans bus and rail service for cities around Denver. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Denver. What you will do • Track costs around accessibility audits against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with fare systems. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Denver, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
