Accountant - accounts payable (Denver, CO)

Bluepeak Wilder Construction is a Denver contractor with project managers, trades and support staff. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Denver. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to change orders, and clear open items. • Track costs around safety records against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with change orders. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Denver, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
