Accountant - accounts payable (Dallas, TX)

Summit Bridge Transit Planning helps transport agencies around Dallas design routes and schedules, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of about 869 people based in Dallas. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around survey data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fare systems, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Dallas. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
