Accountant - accounts payable (Columbus, OH)

Lumen Wilder Early Learning operates neighbourhood childcare around Columbus, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. Low staff turnover is a goal we take seriously. What you will do • Track costs around classroom supplies against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to licensing records, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Columbus. • We reply to every applicant.
