Accountant - accounts payable (Columbus, OH)

Summit River Insurance is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for catastrophe response, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Columbus. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to catastrophe response, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with catastrophe response. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Columbus. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
