Accountant - accounts payable (Columbus, OH)

Northwind Lakeside Environmental Services is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for recycling loads, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 130 people based in Columbus. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around fleet maintenance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with recycling loads. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Columbus. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
