Accountant - accounts payable (Colorado Springs, CO)

Lumen Timber Learning Group runs classrooms and tutoring across the Colorado Springs area, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 23 people based in Colorado Springs. What you will do • Track costs around attendance records against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to student accounts, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with student accounts. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Colorado Springs. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
