Accountant - accounts payable (Chicago, IL)

Redstone Wilder Press is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for press runs, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 169 people based in Chicago. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to press runs, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with press runs. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Chicago. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
