Accountant - accounts payable (Chicago, IL)

Bright Loom Learning Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for family communication, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 14 people based in Chicago. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around attendance records against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with family communication. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Chicago. • We reply to every applicant.
