Accountant - accounts payable (Charlotte, NC)

Cedar Fox Water Authority is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for billing accounts, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 39 people based in Charlotte. What you will do • Track costs around capital projects against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with billing accounts.
