Accountant - accounts payable (Charlotte, NC)

Harborlight Meadow Community Partners is a Charlotte charity working with residents on basic needs and opportunity, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. Mission matters here, and so does looking after staff. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to volunteer shifts, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around food distribution against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with volunteer shifts. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Charlotte. • We reply to every applicant.
