Accountant - accounts payable (Buffalo, NY)

Fernwood Hollow Energy Group delivers power and gas plans across the Buffalo region, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around billing disputes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service connections, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with service connections. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Buffalo. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
