Accountant - accounts payable (Boston, MA)

Highbridge Birch Farms grows and distributes produce from farms near Boston. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Boston. What you will do • Track costs around harvest schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to field records, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with field records. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Boston, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
