Accountant - accounts payable (Birmingham, AL)

Ironwood Lakeside Farms grows and distributes produce from farms near Birmingham. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around harvest schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to packing house output, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with packing house output. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Birmingham, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
