Accountant - accounts payable (Birmingham, AL)

Harborlight Fox Medical builds devices used by hospitals and clinics, with its team based in Birmingham, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. Documentation is part of the craft. What you will do • Track costs around regulatory submissions against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to complaint handling, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with complaint handling. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Birmingham. • We reply to every applicant.
