Accountant - accounts payable (Birmingham, AL)

We are growing our team at Cedar Drift Facilities and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Birmingham. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to cleaning schedules, and clear open items. • Track costs around customer sites against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with cleaning schedules. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Birmingham. • We reply to every applicant.
