Accountant - accounts payable (Baltimore, MD)

Fernwood Union Inspection Services tests and certifies buildings, pipelines and equipment around Baltimore. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 44 people based in Baltimore. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around field inspections against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with client sites. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Baltimore. • We reply to every applicant.
