Accountant - accounts payable (Baltimore, MD)

Bluepeak Field Water Authority is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for capital projects, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 44 people based in Baltimore. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to capital projects, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with capital projects. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Baltimore. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
