Accountant - accounts payable (Baltimore, MD)

Ironwood Sparrow Farms is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on accounts payable for field records, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We are a family-run business at heart. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to field records, and clear open items. • Track costs around cold storage against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with field records. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Baltimore, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
