Accountant - accounts payable (Austin, TX)

Ironwood Ashton Freight coordinates shipments and warehousing around Austin, and we need an Accountant to lead our accounts payable. You would join a small organisation of about 39 people based in Austin. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to loads and lanes, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with loads and lanes. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Austin. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
