Accountant - accounts payable (Anchorage, AK)

Summit Harbor Arts Center is a cultural organisation in Anchorage presenting exhibitions and performances. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Anchorage. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around exhibitions against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to visitor services, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
