Accountant - accounts payable (Anchorage, AK)

Redstone Construction is a Anchorage contractor with project managers, trades and support staff. We are hiring an Accountant to take on accounts payable. Good people move up quickly. What you will do • Track costs around materials orders against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to change orders, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with change orders. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Anchorage. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
