Passed on a lead and they got the job - what worked for you?

I referred a former colleague for a role at my new company. There are 4 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. He started on Monday. It really does come around.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
