Passed on a lead and they got the job - any advice?

A neighbour told me about her job search, and I shared a lead I found here. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. He started on Monday. Thank you for the advice that got me here.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
