Paid off a bill I thought I would never clear - what worked for you?

I finally caught up on rent after the layoff as a hotel front-desk agent. I am in Sacramento, in case local advice matters. I made a list of what to pay first.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
