I start a new job on Monday - any advice?

I start on Monday after a long search. I am in Boston, in case local advice matters. It is not my dream role, but the pay is fair and the people are kind. What helped you in the first month?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
