I start a new job on Monday after 3 years as an IT help-desk technician

After 11 months I accepted a job as an IT help-desk technician. I do not usually post, so bear with me. It is not my dream role, but the pay is fair and the people are kind. What helped you in the first month?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
