Housing sorted, thank you all - any advice?

After 13 weeks of searching, we found an apartment we can afford in Raleigh. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. A local programme helped with the deposit. If you are searching, keep going.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
