First paycheck after the layoff - what worked for you?

I paid off a bill that had been weighing on me. There are 4 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. It is a small amount, but it feels huge. Hoping it is the start of a better run.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
