I start on Monday after a long search. I am in Chicago, in case local advice matters. It is not my dream role, but the pay is fair and the people are kind. Any advice for starting over?

That is wonderful news. Keep applying for a little while if you have not signed, it is a good habit.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
