Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? - what worked for you?

Three companies in Kansas City cut staff in the same month. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. How did you choose?

Look at job postings to see which skills repeat, then fill the gap. That gave me a direction.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
