Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? - what worked for you?

Three companies in Spokane cut staff in the same month. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. Who has switched fields?

Look at job postings to see which skills repeat, then fill the gap. That gave me a direction.
