Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? (update)

Our sector has been shrinking and I am unsure if I should wait it out. There are 14 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have transferable skills but no direct experience elsewhere. Which areas are hiring?

A short certificate helped me more than a new degree would have. Check what local colleges offer.

Talk to people in the field you are considering. Two coffee chats changed my mind about one option.
