Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? (update)

Three companies in Honolulu cut staff in the same month. Any experience at all would help. The postings I see are fewer and ask for more. Which areas are hiring?

Look at job postings to see which skills repeat, then fill the gap. That gave me a direction.
