Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? (update)

Many of the people I know in my field were laid off this year, including me as an accounts payable clerk. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I have transferable skills but no direct experience elsewhere.

Look at job postings to see which skills repeat, then fill the gap. That gave me a direction.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
