Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? (Minneapolis)

Many of the people I know in my field were laid off this year, including me as a sales associate. I am in Minneapolis, in case local advice matters. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. Who has switched fields?

Look at job postings to see which skills repeat, then fill the gap. That gave me a direction.
