Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields?, IT help-desk technician here

Gemma Andersson · 2026-09-05T17:14:07.240Z

Our sector has been shrinking and I am unsure if I should wait it out. I am in Columbus, in case local advice matters. The postings I see are fewer and ask for more. How did you choose?

Look at job postings to see which skills repeat, then fill the gap. That gave me a direction.
