Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? - any advice?

Three companies in Portland cut staff in the same month. It has been a long 9 weeks. The postings I see are fewer and ask for more. Who has switched fields?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
